Manual Handling Course Salisbury

HLTWHS005 – Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

Manual Handling Salisbury

HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely is the official name for what is most often known as a Manual Handling Course. Manual handling tasks are anything which involves relocating heavy loads and requires a person to move, lift, lower, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.

Manual handling activities are common across a wide variety of different industries, careers, and job descriptions. Proper manual handling training is useful for any workplace, but is particularly essential for working in warehouses, supermarkets, offices, and especially in healthcare where it is required to safely move patients. There are few workplaces where a manual handling certification is not beneficial in some way.

First Aid Pro is a registered training provider offering the best training for manual handling Salisbury has to offer; nationally accredited and endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing. We take pride in providing high quality training through our experienced and friendly facilitators. All students, both domestic and international, are welcome to enrol in this course and improve their skills, knowledge, and professional opportunities.

The nature of manual handling tasks varies according to the workplace, typically involving the movement of heavy loads in diverse physical work environments. This movement can be executed using the human body or with the assistance of mechanical aids.

Effective manual handling entails moving these loads to minimize workplace injuries. This involves meticulous planning, robust risk controls, and the implementation of measures to control and mitigate risks.

HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely is the nationally accredited qualification commonly known as the Manual Handling course or training.

How Long Is The Manual Handling Training Course?

Do I Need a Manual Handling Certificate?

Although manual handling is relevant across various careers, not all explicitly demand a manual handling certificate for application. The necessity of manual handling training is often at the discretion of individual organisations. Certificates are more commonly required for specific roles, such as plumbers and electricians (excluding the self-employed).

However, opting for a manual handling assessment is advantageous for most job applications, demonstrating a commitment to work health and safety. This is particularly beneficial for roles involving potentially hazardous manual tasks, where the risk of injury is higher than average.

How Long Does A Manual Handling Certificate Last In South Australia?

Both the Industry Council and Safe Work Australia recommend updating your Manual Handling certification annually. While some regions in Australia consider a manual handling certificate valid for two (2) years, it is advisable to undergo manual handling refresher training every two to three years, ideally annually, regardless of expiration.
