HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting supersedes the now-dated HTLAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
For those in the education sector, the course includes all of the content in Provide First Aid HLTAID011 and common infant and child-related illnesses and injuries like febrile convulsions, fevers, vomiting, dehydration, and diarrhea. Because of its industry-specific approach, HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting and is approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
It may also contribute to approved first aid, asthma, and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
All the theory needed to apply basic emergency life support and practical first aid skills is assessed before students can perform first aid in their in-class practical session. The duration of the in-class session varies depending on whether you elect to complete the face-to-face course (7 hours in class) or the express online course (2 hours in class).
