Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the First Aid Pro West Lakes venue and how do I get there?
Our West Lakes training venue is in West Lakes SA 5021, easily accessible by Adelaide Metro bus from across western Adelaide and the city. On-site parking is available, plus street parking and drop-off zones at the entrance. Bike racks and shared-use paths nearby. The venue has step-free entry. Courses run daily 8:30am to 5:00pm. For the exact street address, please refer to your booking confirmation or contact us.
What's around the venue for breaks and lunch?
Westfield West Lakes is a 5-minute drive with a full food court, supermarkets, and major retail. Henley Beach foreshore is nearby for outdoor breaks. Course breaks include 15–20 minutes plus a longer lunch.
Which West Lakes-area employers and industries commonly require first aid certification?
The western Adelaide coastal corridor — West Lakes, Henley Beach, Grange, Semaphore, Tennyson — has steady first-aid demand. Retail and hospitality (Westfield West Lakes, Henley Square dining strip), early learning (childcare centres across West Lakes, Henley Beach, Grange, and Tennyson all need HLTAID012 for ACECQA staff ratios), education (multiple primary, high, and Catholic schools), water sports and surf services (surf schools at Henley Beach and Grange, plus Surf Life Saving SA clubs), aviation (Adelaide Airport is 10 minutes south), and sport / events (West Lakes is home to several major sporting precincts).
Are there SA-specific compliance requirements I should know about?
SA workplaces are governed by SafeWork SA under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and Code of Practice — First Aid in the Workplace. Childcare staff in West Lakes must hold HLTAID012 to meet ACECQA’s National Quality Standard (Element 2.2.2). Surf-school and beach operators should ensure first-aiders are trained in marine envenomation and surf-related injuries.
Are there other First Aid Pro venues nearby?
Woodville is around 10 minutes east, Torrensville about 15 minutes south-east, Port Adelaide 10 minutes north, and Adelaide CBD about 20 minutes east. All First Aid Pro South Australia venues run the same nationally accredited courses with identical pricing.
Can First Aid Pro West Lakes deliver on-site training for our team?
Yes — we deliver group on-site training across West Lakes, Henley Beach, Grange, Semaphore, Tennyson, Findon, Royal Park, and the broader western Adelaide corridor. Our trainers come to your office, surf club, childcare centre, school, or hospitality venue and bring all manikins, AED trainers, and consumables. Contact us for a quote.
How long is my first aid certificate valid for?
CPR (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months and should be refreshed annually as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council. First Aid (HLTAID011) and Childcare First Aid (HLTAID012) are valid for 3 years, but the CPR component within them must still be renewed every 12 months.
Same-day certificate — how does that work?
After completing the online theory module before the in-person session, attending the practical day, and passing the assessment, your nationally accredited certificate is processed and emailed the same day.
Do I need a USI to enrol?
Yes. A Unique Student Identifier is required by federal law for any nationally accredited training. Create one at usi.gov.au in under five minutes.
Which course should I do — HLTAID009, HLTAID011, or HLTAID012?
HLTAID009 (CPR only, $45) is the annual CPR refresh. HLTAID011 ($97) is the standard workplace first aid certificate. HLTAID012 ($119) is for childcare, early learning, and education staff.
