Our White Card Course Overview
CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry is the name of the white card course. This is due to the name of the qualification students receive upon their completion, colloquially known as the white card or as a general construction induction card.
First Aid Pro is a registered training organisation (RTO) that offers a SafeWork approved white card course to suit anyone’s general construction induction training needs. Working with our highly experienced trainers, this qualification ensures our graduates have the required knowledge, skills, and personal awareness to work safely in the construction industry, access operational construction zones or construction sites, or enter any other site where construction work may occur.
Students who successfully complete this general construction induction course are awarded a same day statement of attainment to prove to their future employers that they possess the relevant knowledge to work on a construction site.
What You'll Learn in Our White Card Course Training
Through this course you’ll learn everything you need to know about Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) for the construction industry. By the end of your general construction induction training you’ll be able equipped with the basic knowledge to perform the following tasks:
- Recognise and report construction hazards and their associated risks
- Understand the importance of hazard and risk control measures
- Identify different safety signs and symbols
- Choose the most appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Demonstrate personal awareness in potentially dangerous situations
- Undertake risk management duties
- Understand your duty of care on a construction site
- Perform safety communication to others
- Deliver emergency response procedures
Once you have successfully completed this WHS induction course you will receive a same day statement of attainment, a statement of training certificate (valid for 60 days allowing students to begin work on a construction site immediately), and a white card issued and posted by SafeWork.

Eligibility & Enrolment
Eligibility conditions vary slightly depending on the state in which you complete your white card course.
Across all states though, there are no previous academic requirements or experience necessary to enrol in general construction induction training.
All students enrolling in a First Aid Pro white card course must meet the following minimum requirements to ensure they can work safely in the construction industry:
- Possess a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
- Possess basic numeracy skills
- Be capable of effective verbal communication by asking questions to clarify instructions and pointing out a construction problem or hazard
- Possess basic English literacy skills to read and follow simple pictorial safety instructions and instructions written in English
On the day of their training course, students must allow for a photo to be taken of themselves which includes their head, neck, and shoulders.
Eligibility Criteria by State
In addition to our standard enrolment and eligibility criteria white card students in QLD must also meet the following to be eligible for enrollment:
- Reside in the state of Queensland
- Students must be 13 years old or older. (Please note: Students under 18 will be required to complete and bring a Parental Consent Form to class)
- Provide vaild identification as per the Evidence of Identity Requirements required by WorkSafe QLD

In addition to our standard enrolment and eligibility criteria white card students in NSW must also meet the following to be eligible for enrollment:
- Students must be 14 years old or older. (Please note: Students under 18 will be required to complete and bring a Parental Consent Form to class)
- Students must bring 100 points of Identity in the original and physical document form
Acceptable forms of identification include a current Australian drivers licence, original Australian birth certificate, photo ID card, green card, bank statement, to name a few. The following information must be included across the identity documents provided:
- A photo
- Date of Birth
- Signature
- Current Residential Address

Delivery Method
This white card training program is conducted entirely in-person via classroom practical training.
Our training program lasts only one (1) day, from 9am to 4:30pm, at the end of which students will have classroom assessment components including written, oral, and practical demonstrations.

How Will I Receive My White Card?
After successfully completing your white card course you can pick up your white card at the following:
- South Australia
- King William St – may be picked up from our sister RTO Skills Training College – Level 2/45 Grenfell Street, Adelaide, SA, 5000 on the Friday of the following week after 12:00 pm.
- Morphett Vale – issued on the day of training except weekends. Weekend courses may be picked up at Morphett Vale office 20 Taylors Avenue, Morphett Vale, SA 5162 on Wednesday of the following week after 12:00pm.
- Salisbury – may be picked up from our sister RTO Skills Training College – Level 2/45 Grenfell Street, Adelaide, SA, 5000 on the Friday of the following week after 12:00 pm.
- Mount Gambier – your white card will be posted via Australia Post
- Marion – Weekend courses may be picked up at Morphett Vale office 20 Taylors Avenue, Morphett Vale, SA 5162 on Wednesday of the following week after 12:00pm.
- Northern Territory
- You will receive a statement of attainment from FirstAidPro after successfully completing your Northern Territory white card course. Your actual white card will be issued by SafeWork NT.
You can request a White Card Replacement using the form on this page. The cost of a White Card replacement is $50 which you can arrange to be picked up at one of our locations.
Do White Cards Expire?
White cards do not have an expiration date. However, if you have not worked in construction or used your white card for 2 years or more, you may need to retrain and retake the white construction induction course. Please refer to your state's respective WorkSafe governing body for more information.
It is also important to stay informed of any regulatory changes which may affect your certification status. Regularly check for updates to ensure your qualification remains valid.
How Do I Get A White Card?
The only way to obtain a white card is by completing a CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry course with a registered training provider.
How to Apply for a White Card?
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive:
- Statement of Attainment
- Statement of Training, valid for 60 days, which allows students to start working immediately (NSW ONLY)
- General Construction Induction Card (Issued and posted by SafeWork)
Who Needs a White Card?
All individuals employed in construction must have a white card. This applies to site managers, supervisors, surveyors, tradespeople, and laborers. This is a legal obligation that aims to promote a safe working environment and minimize the chances of accidents occurring on construction sites.
How Long Does It Take to Get a White Card?
The duration of white card training differs based on the person and their skills. Our programs are designed to be efficient and effective and can be completed in 1 day allowing you to quickly acquire the essential skills and knowledge needed for your white card certification.
Is This An White Card Online Course?
No, there is no online training available for white card. Our course consists of a face-to-face training session that will ensure you have the practical skills and knowledge to work in the construction industry. This session includes all theoretical training and assessment components students have to complete.
