Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the First Aid Pro South Brisbane venues and how do I get there?
We run five venues across Brisbane’s southern suburbs and the City of Logan. Upper Mount Gravatt is at 1873 Logan Road, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD 4122 (Mt Gravatt Bowls Club), with free on-site parking and the Garden City busway station on the South East Busway — a major Translink interchange at Westfield Garden City — a short distance away. Sunnybank Hills is at 124 Gowan Road, Sunnybank Hills QLD 4113 (Runcorn Tavern), with free parking and Runcorn station on the Beenleigh line nearby. Salisbury is at 37 Ainsworth Street, Salisbury QLD 4107 (Salisbury Community Sports Club), with free parking and Salisbury station on the Beenleigh line within walking distance. Browns Plains is at 65 Browns Plains Road, Browns Plains QLD 4118 (Browns Plains Hotel), with free parking and the Browns Plains bus interchange at Grand Plaza — a major Translink Southern hub — close by. Logan Central is at Unit 8/84 Wembley Road, Logan Central QLD 4114, with on-site parking, Logan Central Plaza parking close by, and Woodridge station on the Beenleigh line a short drive away. Courses run daily 8:30am to 5:00pm.
What's around each venue for breaks and lunch?
Upper Mount Gravatt sits beside Westfield Garden City — one of Brisbane’s largest shopping centres, with a full food court, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, cinemas, ATMs, and pharmacies. Sunnybank Hills is close to Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown, with Sunnybank’s renowned Asian dining precincts — Sunnybank Plaza and Market Square — a short drive for yum cha, dumplings, hotpot, and bubble tea. Salisbury has cafes and takeaways around the local shops and station, with more options at Coopers Plains and Rocklea a short drive away. Browns Plains is opposite Grand Plaza — a major centre with a food court, cafes, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Kmart, Big W, and Target. Logan Central is beside Logan Central Plaza, the “Heartbeat of Logan”, with a multicultural food court (sushi, Vietnamese, Indian, Turkish), Coles, Kmart, and Aldi. Course breaks include 15–20 minutes plus a longer lunch.
Which South Brisbane employers and industries commonly require first aid certification?
The southern suburbs and Logan — Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt, Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills, Salisbury, Coopers Plains, Runcorn, Browns Plains, Logan Central, Woodridge, and surrounds — have steady first-aid demand. Healthcare and aged care (QEII Jubilee Hospital at Coopers Plains and Logan Hospital at Meadowbrook are major public hospitals serving Brisbane’s south and the Logan region; Sunnybank Private Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital are nearby; the Princess Alexandra Hospital at Woolloongabba is a major tertiary hospital to the north; plus extensive aged care across the southern suburbs and Logan), education (Griffith University’s Mount Gravatt, Nathan, and Logan campuses; TAFE Queensland; plus numerous primary, secondary, and Catholic schools), retail and hospitality (Westfield Garden City, the Sunnybank precincts, Grand Plaza at Browns Plains, and Logan Central Plaza), early learning (childcare centres across the southern suburbs and Logan all need HLTAID012 for ACECQA staff ratios), construction (the Logan growth corridor — Park Ridge, Greater Flagstone, and Yarrabilba — has active residential and commercial building), and manufacturing, transport, and logistics (the Salisbury, Archerfield, Acacia Ridge, and Berrinba–Crestmead industrial estates, plus Archerfield Airport and the Acacia Ridge freight terminal).
Are there QLD / WHS compliance considerations?
Queensland workplaces are governed by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) and the WHS Regulation 2011, guided by the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice. Healthcare staff at QEII, Logan, and the Princess Alexandra hospitals typically require HLTAID011 currency, with the CPR component renewed annually. Childcare staff must hold HLTAID012 to meet ACECQA’s National Quality Standard (Element 2.2.2). Manufacturing, warehousing, and transport workers across the Salisbury, Archerfield, and Acacia Ridge industrial estates should be confident managing workplace injuries and holding HLTAID011. In the subtropical climate, workers should also be ready to manage heat and sun-related illness.
Are there other First Aid Pro venues nearby?
Our five South Brisbane venues sit close together — Upper Mount Gravatt to Sunnybank Hills is around 10 minutes, Sunnybank Hills to Salisbury around 10 minutes, and Browns Plains and Logan Central are each around 15 minutes from Sunnybank Hills. Brisbane CBD is around 15 to 20 minutes north of Upper Mount Gravatt. We also run four venues across North Brisbane — Chermside, North Lakes, Caboolture, and Redcliffe. All First Aid Pro QLD venues run the same nationally accredited courses with identical pricing.
Can First Aid Pro South Brisbane deliver on-site training for our team?
Yes — we deliver group on-site training across Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt, Holland Park, Sunnybank, Sunnybank Hills, Runcorn, Kuraby, Salisbury, Coopers Plains, Acacia Ridge, Browns Plains, Regents Park, Hillcrest, Logan Central, Woodridge, Springwood, Slacks Creek, Marsden, Crestmead, Loganlea, Meadowbrook, and the broader southern Brisbane and Logan suburbs.
How long is my first aid certificate valid for?
CPR (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months. HLTAID011 and HLTAID012 are 3 years (CPR component renewed annually).
Same-day certificate — how does that work?
After the online theory module, in-person practical, and assessment, your certificate is emailed the same day.
Do I need a USI to enrol?
Yes. Create one at usi.gov.au.
Which course should I do — HLTAID009, HLTAID011, or HLTAID012?
HLTAID009 ($45) for CPR refresh. HLTAID011 ($97) for standard workplace. HLTAID012 ($119) for childcare / education. Workers heading to remote or isolated worksites may also want HLTAID013 (Remote/Isolated Site).
