CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry is the official name for what is often known as a white card Course. This is because of the name of qualification students receive upon their successful completion, colloquially known as the white card or as a general construction induction card.

White Card Course Overview
Through our Queensland white card course you’ll learn everything about Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) for construction work. By the end of your day of general construction induction training you’ll be able equipped with the basic WHS knowledge to perform the following tasks:
Report and identify construction hazards
Understand the importance of hazard and risk control measures
Identify different safety signs and symbols
Choose the most appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including high-visibility vests and safety glasses
Demonstrate personal awareness in potentially dangerous situations
Undertake risk management duties
Identify health risks and hazards
Understand your duty of care on a construction site
Perform safety communication to others
Deliver emergency response procedures
Recognise your safety legislative requirements on a construction site
Upon successful completion of a QLD white card course students receive a same day statement of attainment certificate and a nationally recognised white card. Simply contact us if you lose your white card to order a replacement white card.
Eligibility Criteria
- Reside in the state of Queensland
- Students must be 13 years old or older. (Please note: Students under 18 will be required to complete and bring a Parental Consent Form to class)
- Be capable of effective verbal communication by asking questions to clarify instructions and pointing out a construction problem or hazard
- Possess basic English literacy skills to read and follow simple pictorial safety instructions and instructions written in English
- Possess basic numeracy skills
- Provide vaild identification as per the Evidence of Identity Requirements required by WorkSafe QLD

On the day of their training course, students must allow for a photo to be taken of themselves which includes their head, neck, and shoulders.

Delivery Method
The Queensland white card course is conducted entirely in-person via classroom practical training. Our training program lasts only one (1) business day, from 9am to 4:30pm, at the end of which students will have classroom assessment tasks including a written assessment, oral, and practical demonstrations.
Prior to attending their classroom practical training, students will be sent self-guided, online training consisting of reading materials and a quiz which are to be completed in their own time.
Upon successful completion of this WHS induction course students are awarded their nationally recognised statement of attainment.

White cards do not have an expiration date. However, if you have not worked in construction for 2 years or more, SafeWork QLD suggests you attend another course to update and refresh your skills and knowledge.
