CPR (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months and should be refreshed annually as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council. First Aid (HLTAID011) and Childcare First Aid (HLTAID012) are valid for 3 years, but the CPR component within them must still be renewed every 12 months. Tasmanian Health, NDIS providers, and other industry bodies may set stricter renewal schedules.

After completing the online theory module before the in-person session, attending the practical day, and passing the assessment, your nationally accredited certificate is processed and emailed the same day. You can show it to an employer or compliance officer immediately. The hard-copy version follows by post.
Do I need a USI to enrol?
Yes. A Unique Student Identifier is required by federal law for any nationally accredited training. Create one at usi.gov.au in under five minutes using a driver’s licence, Medicare card, or passport.
Which course should I do — HLTAID009, HLTAID011, or HLTAID012?
HLTAID009 (CPR only, $45) is for those who already hold a current first aid certificate and just need their annual CPR refresh. HLTAID011 ($97) is the standard workplace first aid certificate and what most Tasmanian employers ask for — it includes the CPR component. HLTAID012 ($119) is required if you work in childcare, early learning, or education.
