There are no formal academic requirements for the CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Training (HLTAID009, VU22927, VU23090 & VU23091) course. Please be aware that anyone under 18 years old must provide signed consent from their parent or guardian using this form.

For regulated education and care services in Australia, you need HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting. This is the mandatory certification under the Education and Care Services National Regulations. HLTAID011 (standard first aid) is NOT sufficient for childcare roles.

What is the first aid management of anaphylaxis?

HLTAID012 certification is valid for 36 months (3 years) from the date of issue. However, the CPR component (HLTAID009) should be renewed annually as recommended by ACECQA and the Australian Resuscitation Council. Many centres require annual CPR refreshers for all staff.
