Childcare First Aid Eligibility & Enrolment
Age & USI Requirements
- Must be at least 14 years old (participants under 18 require a signed enrolment form from a parent/guardian)
- Have a valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) for certification issuance
Physical Requirements:
- Be physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR on adult, child and infant manikins for at least 2 minutes kneeling on the floor
- Demonstrate the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), including the use of child pads
- Perform first aid techniques including bandaging and wound management
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements:
- Complete incident reports as required in education settings
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and emergency services
- Understand medication labels and allergy action plans
- Follow written emergency procedures and policies
- Count compressions and breaths during CPR
- Understand Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Understand spoken instructions & count to 30
- Follow written and verbal first aid procedures
