HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Currently, the most up-to-date standard for CPR training in Australia is the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation training unit. This replaces all the older training standards, such as HLTAID001. FirstAidPro’s HLTAID009 course is a carefully formulated blend of theoretical medical knowledge and practical CPR skills. We follow best practice training procedures and use the most up to date equipment and training techniques.
While we have a range of formats available for the course, our blended Zoom course offers the best of both worlds in terms of online convenience and the interactivity and guided learning of a live course.
Let FirstAidPro help you prepare for the worst-case scenario.
- The most flexible course on the market – Take advantage of the flexibility of online learning, and work through the self-paced course material at the times that best suit your lifestyle. This is perfect for shift workers, parents with young children, or anyone with a busy lifestyle. And once the self-paced course material is complete, log on and take part in our 2 hour, interactive Zoom session, led by our experienced trainer and with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
- Same-day qualification issue – With FirstAidPro, you can receive your official, nationally recognised HLTAID009 certificate within 24 hours - often on the same day as you complete your course. You can also access the digital version of the certificate at any time you like via your student portal.
- Meet accreditation requirements – Our certificates are government accredited and accepted in all Australian states and territories. The HLTAID009 certificate is valid for 12 months from the completion of your course - as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

- Be at least 14 years old.
- Have signed consent from a parent or guardian if aged under 18.
- Work through the self-paced online learning and complete the online pre-quiz and knowledge assessment before your Zoom session. You should allow at least half a day to complete this material, depending on your working speed and prior knowledge.
- Read and understand CPR guidelines and protocols, and be able to put them into practice.
- Provide your USI number (Unique Student Identifier) to FirstAidPro - obtaining one if you do not currently have one.
- Verbally communicate with bystanders, casualties, and emergency services as needed.

Online Learning
FirstAidPro’s Zoom based training provides all the interactivity of a full face-to-face training course with the convenience of learning online. The course combines a two-hour interactive Zoom training session with online training content, which you can take at your own pace. This allows you to take advantage of the skills and experience of your trainer to explain complex concepts, demonstrate practical skills and provide direct feedback on your skills. But it also allows you to work through much of the content at your own speed and at a time that suits your schedule.
It’s essential to have completed the online learning before your Zoom session, as the information provided will form the basis of that training. As such, your trainer won’t be able to admit you to the Zoom session unless both your online knowledge assessment and your pre-quiz are completed successfully.
The time required for this depends on your prior knowledge and the rate at which you work, but it’s generally a good idea to set aside at least half a day.
Course Times
Our Zoom training sessions take place at different times throughout the week, including weekend sessions. You can find specific dates and times listed for courses on our course calendar. Alternatively, just contact us directly.
USI Requirements
Since 2015, students have required a Unique Student Identifier number to undertake formal study. A USI is a unique piece of identification that is linked to you similarly to a tax file number – except specifically for training purposes. If you’ve undertaken any registered training in the last seven years, you’ll already have one, so you just need to provide that to FirstAidPro with your enrollment details. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to head to the USI website to get one.
