Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the First Aid Pro Dee Why venue and how do I get there?
Our Dee Why training venue is at Dee Why RSL, 932 Pittwater Road, Dee Why NSW 2099 — central to the Northern Beaches and a 5-minute walk from Dee Why Beach. Free on-site parking is available at the RSL, with bike racks if you’re cycling in. The B-Line and L60, L62, L70, L80, L90 buses run along Pittwater Road and stop at the RSL. The venue has step-free entry and accessible bathrooms, and is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
What's around the Dee Why venue for breaks and lunch?
Dee Why RSL has a bistro, café, and bar — a convenient lunch option without leaving the venue. The Pittwater Road dining strip is right outside, with cafés, bakeries, takeaway, and restaurants. Westfield Warringah Mall in Brookvale is a 5-minute drive for a wider food court and supermarket option, and Dee Why Beach is a 5-minute walk if you’d like a beach lunch on the longer break.
Which Dee Why-area employers and industries commonly require first aid certification?
Dee Why and Brookvale form the commercial heart of the Northern Beaches. Healthcare and aged care (Dee Why has multiple medical practices, allied health, and aged care providers — and the Northern Beaches Hospital in Frenchs Forest is 5–10 minutes away), early learning (childcare centres across Dee Why, Brookvale, Cromer, Narraweena, and Collaroy all need HLTAID012 for ACECQA staff ratios), retail and hospitality (Westfield Warringah Mall is one of Sydney’s biggest, plus the Dee Why CBD cafés, the Dee Why Beach hospitality strip, and the Brookvale industrial-retail precinct), trades and light industry (Brookvale’s industrial estate runs along Old Pittwater Road and Mitchell Road), and surf life saving (Dee Why and Long Reef SLSCs are a 5-minute drive). HLTAID011 is the standard workplace certificate.
Are there Northern Beaches-specific compliance considerations?
NSW workplaces are governed by SafeWork NSW under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and Code of Practice — First Aid in the Workplace. Surf, dive, and water-sports operators along the Dee Why coastline should ensure first-aiders are trained for marine envenomation (bluebottles), surf-related injuries, and remote-area response. Childcare staff in Dee Why must hold HLTAID012 to meet ACECQA’s National Quality Standard (Element 2.2.2). Aged care providers should ensure HLTAID011 currency for all care staff.
How does the Dee Why venue compare with other First Aid Pro Sydney locations?
Dee Why is our flagship Northern Beaches venue and the closest training centre for residents from Manly through to Avalon. The next closest First Aid Pro venues are Hornsby on the upper North Shore (~25 minutes via the Spit Bridge or Wakehurst Parkway), Greenwich on the Lower North Shore (~25 minutes), and North Ryde (~25–30 minutes via the M2). Sydney CBD is around 30–40 minutes via the Spit Bridge or B-Line. All First Aid Pro NSW venues run the same nationally accredited courses with identical pricing.
Can First Aid Pro Dee Why deliver on-site training for our team?
Yes — we deliver group on-site training across Dee Why, Brookvale, Collaroy, Narraweena, Cromer, Freshwater, Manly, and the broader Northern Beaches corridor. Our trainers come to your office, surf school, hotel, childcare centre, school, or medical practice and bring all manikins, AED trainers, and consumables. On-site is well-suited to surf clubs, hospitality groups, and aged care facilities needing to certify multiple staff in one session. Contact us for a quote.
How long is my first aid certificate valid for?
CPR (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months and should be refreshed annually as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council. First Aid (HLTAID011) and Childcare First Aid (HLTAID012) are valid for 3 years, but the CPR component within them must still be renewed every 12 months. NSW Health, NDIS providers, and surf-club programs may set stricter renewal schedules.
Same-day certificate — how does that work?
After completing the online theory module before the in-person session, attending the practical day, and passing the assessment, your nationally accredited certificate is processed and emailed the same day. You can show it to your employer or compliance officer immediately.
Do I need a USI to enrol?
Yes. A Unique Student Identifier is required by federal law for any nationally accredited training. Create one at usi.gov.au in under five minutes using a driver’s licence, Medicare card, or passport.
Which course should I do — HLTAID009, HLTAID011, or HLTAID012?
HLTAID009 (CPR only, $45) is for those who already hold a current first aid certificate and just need their annual CPR refresh. HLTAID011 ($97) is the standard workplace first aid certificate and what most Sydney employers ask for — it includes the CPR component. HLTAID012 ($119) is required if you work in childcare, early learning, or education.
