The 4x4x4 asthma first aid protocol involves:
1) Sit the person upright,
2) Give 4 separate puffs of reliever inhaler,
3) Wait 4 minutes,
4) If no improvement, give 4 more puffs. This protocol is recommended by the Australian Asthma Handbook and forms a core component of our training.
