HLTWHS005 - Manual Handling

Our "Conduct Manual Tasks Safely" course prepares Nurses/Nursing Students, Support Care Workers and Domestic Workers to carry out Manual Handling Tasks in a safe manner.

Our manual handling course, conveniently located in our training facility in Adelaide is interactive, fun and hands-on! You will have access to full working hoists, hospital beds, slide sheets as well as all the necessary equipment for you to learn with and practice on whilst being supported by your trainer / assessor.

You will receive all the necessary theory to understand Legislation and safe work practices surrounding the mobilisation of clients and objects within your own working role. You will be involved in practical demonstrations where you practice the skills and use of all the equipment whilst being supported and guided by our experienced trainers/ assessors.

With This course, you will be required to do tri-annual refresher courses to keep the accreditation up to date, you can find the link to the Refresher course below.





Course Content

Theory includes:

  • Understand & Learn the NO lift Polices
  • Legislation
  • Duty of Care
  • Risk Factors
  • How to control risks arising from Manual Handling tasks
  • Preventing Injuries
  • Basic anatomy and physiology of the spine
  • Correct postures

Practical Includes:

  • Pre start Exercises
  • Log Rolls
  • Stand Transfer
  • Use of slide sheets
  • Use of a full hoist and standing hoist in a variety of situations
  • Moving people safely
  • Correct posture
